T56 grinds when downshifting into 2nd, will NOT go into gear
Car is a 2001 Z06, pretty much bone stock. It has 54k miles on it, was babied until it hit 50k when I bought it. I drive it hard, but drive it smart. Have had other T56 equipped cars with no problems whatsoever after years of abuse to the transmission.
Heres the issue- If I'm upshifting no matter what RPM it will take every gear just fine, with only the very occasional slight grind in a high RPM 1-2 shift. Takes the gear just fine, but grinds every once in a while, with the clutch pedal firmly on the floor, shifting fast or slow. The real problem I am having, it if I try to downshift to 2nd from 3rd thru 6th, it will NOT go into gear. This is all of a sudden, without warning. It will finally take the gear if I slow down to about 25, but if I try to put it in from a 50 roll, absolutely will NOT go into gear, no matter what I do. Not sure on fluid condition, could this be causing the issue? Any adjustments I can make externally to help this? Any info will help, I don't know a whole lot about these transmissions because my previous ones worked flawlessly. Thanks for the info, Nick

Downshifts are typically harder to synchronize than upshifts. If it's only happening to 2nd gear, it's most likely the 2nd gear blocker ring is worn. If it's happening in multiple gears, it more likely clutch and/or hydraulics issues..
Fluid might help, but at this point damage is probably already done..
