Default ls6 clutch on 99 Camaro SS ?

I need a clutch!!!! 99 camaro SS
i'm thinking about getting the ls6 clutch kit, including the steel flywheel and slave cylinder upgrade, getting a good price i say ( $428.99) for everything.
I got a loudmouth, lid not to much to really talk about.
im a bit short on my money. Would rather t get spec III with flywheel and Slave, but really cant afford it. Or where can get a very resonable price?
what do you guys think?
Also, what would you guys say is a good price for the labor of installing clutch flywheel and salve?
Open to any opinions or comments. THANX

The LS6 clutch is a worthwhile upgrade over your stock clutch. I would also recommend replacing the master cylinder with an upgrade GM master cylinder from an '01/'02 LS1 (part # - 12570277). The Mcleod adjustable m/c would be what I would recommend, but it looks like you are on a budget. The GM m/c will work well, though.

I have that clutch, its alot better then stock but nothing too harsh, if youre looking for a daily driver, get the z06, if you want all out performacne then my reccomendation would be something aftermarket such as the SPEC or McLoed clutches

I got the Spec stage 2. I can't really notice a difference in the pedal feel. It might be a tiny bit firmer, but nothing that will be a pain in a daily driver. Mine is a daily driver and I love my clutch. I thought about the stage 3, but when I make enough power to kill the stage 2, it will be long gone. I got my stage 2 kit for $375 shipped. But it was the base kit, no flywheel. I think a stage 2 is a good compromise for daily driver, lesser modded cars.

The LS6 clutch is a good one though. One of my friends had many passes on his when it finally went. He has heads, cam, headers, exhaust, 150 shot, and launches on slicks. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted, but it was longer than I would have ever expected.

When my stock clutch started slipping I moved up the Z06. Great little clutch. For a basically stock engine, not much actual racing at the track, go with the Z06 set up.

You should also go with: the drill out mod ( www.installuniversity.com ); a new updated slave.

The Z06 set-up lasted about 1.5 seasons (more than 300 launches). Since, I have gradually stepped up the McLeod single and now with the new mods a McLeod twin-disc is going in.

Happy motoring

David
