Default Have a problem with 6spd!

Well after almost two years owning a 6 speed i have noticed something that might not be normal... Alright ill try to explain this as best as possible.

Sometimes in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear around 1800-2100 rpms. I feel the car fall on its face. Like the clutch may be slipping or not grabbing. It also feels like it loses power. This is all at 1/6th to 1/4th of throttle power. Its very strange. Now could the throw out bearings in the clutch be causing this? It happens quite often now and has been getting a bit annoying lately.

Basically 2nd gear is the worst. If i roll through a light/stop sign at 5-10mph in 2nd gear the power is there, but as soon as i hit this certain rpm range 1800-2100 it basically falls on its face and then catches again. Anyone know from experience what this may be?

Btw this is on my Z06.

if there is no "revs" check valvesprings, or computer is pulling timing.

R,
It's not a clutch/trans issue.

If the clutch was slipping or any other part that could release/disengage, one would think you would see an increase in rpm when under load/power. Sounds more like a spark, fuel, or wiring gremlin issue since its always around the same rpm regardless of gear or speed you drive.

Sounds a lot like a dirty MAF that might need to be cleaned. What kind of air filter do you have?

I heard it was with early and late model 02's. Mine is an 03 and its a late production to where they fixed the valvespring problem. From what ive read on CF.

then don't check, keep reading the forums. you have the same symptoms i have seen in cars with broken valve springs. i found myself blessed I just happened to pull the valve cover before we lost a valve. and half my ***** under the windshield lol. chances are its not the valve spring but unless you know someone hasnt jumped into your cold car and reved the **** out of it, valet, dealers, previous owners, I would look. you know how many people don't realize they have broken ones till they do a cam swap. im sure your **** aint underwarranty, 15 min can save you 5g, just sayin.

goodluck, tom

Alright ill have to check it in this weekend. Question about the VS, will they be cracked looking or what? How to tell if broken spring? Plus i know i can get these cheap correct? Specially from gmpartsdirect. I can do the work myself if it comes to changing out the vs. Just would have to pick up the tool from AZ or OR or something.

That could be causing a problem, if the K&N oil is contaminating your MAF: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_ethyl_...action_solvent Alcohol is not an ideal solvent for oil, so the Q-Tip may have done more for you than the alcohol. As well, cleaners will contaminate your MAF or cause dust, etc. to stick.

For MAF sensors, you should use a special MAF cleaner or a non-residue electrical contact cleaner. I used the non-residue cleaner on my MAF (with a Q-Tip) and it did wonders. (I also ditched my K&N after that and the problem never came back.)
