Short shifter options

I've heard good things about Pro 5.0's and MGW short-throws, but was wondering does the brand really matter very much. Wouldn't an offbrand do the same thing, since it's just a shifter?

I like $40 alottt more than $200!

Nearly every brand has a little different design. They aren't all just the same thing rebranded. Find someone that has a Pro5.0 setup and compare it to a B&M Ripper. Very different feel.
I use a stock Hurst with a short stick and love it.

What do you mean each one has a different design? Can't really get any different than a rotating stick... only if you make it spring assisted or air assisted.
Maybe you mean just the length of the actual stick or the materials used. That would make it feel much different.
When I shortened the stick on my BMW it felt a lot different. Then when i replaced all the bushings in the shifter assembly it felt like a whole new transmission.
I think the design is the same but not executed the same.

^not alot for $40.
Both the pro 5.0 and the mgw are good. I had a pro 5.0 and then went mgw, to me, alot better and tighter throws. Takes a little getting used to but no more missed shifts.
My vote is the mgw, the quality of the actual shifter is awesome, you can always use a longer shifter handle/stick if thats what you prefer.

what do you mean by quality? quality on a clutch, brakes, heads/cams, etc makes sense. would it just make a smoother shift basically? i was under the impression that the length and pivot point were the only things that made faster, smoother *****.
i figure for $40 i can try it, if it sucks, buy a better brand.

Also interested in what you guys are using. I have a aftermarket Hurst with WS6Store short stick now. I had a Pro 5.0 before this and I must say I like the 5.0 better. I'm considering getting an angled UMI short stick for the Hurst (I really liked how the Pro 5.0 angled the stick towards you), or just buying another Pro 5.0, or possibly an MGW.

MGW by far!!! Anybody whose recommends anything else other than the MGW has obviously NEVER used the MGW before! I bet anybody that has installed/used the MGW shifter has never contemplated taking it out to try another brand. YES it is that good and well worth the money. Its BY FAR the best shifter out there. Really short throws and NEVER missed a shift with it since its been installed and it has excellent quality

Now I'm moving up the MGW which is TEN times better by far. U know which gear your in everytime and never miss during your WOT throw towards 3rd. My buddy has one and it blew my mind. NO JOKE
