Improper installation?!? Give me a break. A blithering idiot could install a clutch. It's not that hard to do.. I'm not BS'ing you, there were way too many times that I installed an LS7 kit, then had to get it warrantied out for a new one. Other times it just needed a .125in shim. Every time I got a replacement LS7 kit, it did indeed work. So hopefully you see where I'm coming from.
Bad luck...maybe? There is no way to tell until it is actually measured. The specifications that I plan to measure/compare are slave height, slave travel, pressure plate height (both installed and un-installed). Pressure plate travel, and the engagement/disengagement point within this travel. I'm going to compare every disc, pressure plate and slave on the market then post up the results here. I think it would be quite interesting...

I've put two in two different cars of mine and never used a shim. One was a car that put down 475 on motor and then it had a 150 shot on top of that. Many highway runs and numerous runs at the track and I never experienced any slippage. The second is my DD and again no shim was used and I have yet to have an issue after almost 20K miles

Well, I just finished installing the LS7 clutch I started this thread with. I already had a shim from the SPEC Stage 2+ that was already in it. Installed it with that shim and it works fine. The only thing I don't like is that the pedal is really low. I am doing another shim tomm to see how much I can get the pedal to raise up. I will let y'all know hopefully tomm what I used and the outcome! Outside of the low pedal it works great with 447whp!

Dude Wtf do not put another shim in it. Its self adjusting it will work its way up with break in. But if you wanna waste your time go for it. Ive installed around 12 of them no shims and no problems.

Decided to just leave it be with the one shim. Like I said before it's only temp. until I complete my new build which will need a twin disc..... Thanks for all the input!!
