New clutch and cannot get in to reverse! Please help!

Default New clutch and cannot get in to reverse! Please help!

I was driving to work, cruising around 70 in 6th gear. All of the sudden I lost power and had to coast to the side of the interstate. While sitting there, I pushed the clutch in and tried to go into gear and could not. I put it in neutral and began to let the clutch out and the car started creeping forward while in neutral. The only gear that worked normal was reverse. So I shut the car off and let it sit for around 10 minutes. When I restarted the car I could go into 1st-6th gear, with a clanking noise coming from the tranny. But I could not get into reverse.

I pulled the transmission and resurfaced the flywheel and replaced the clutch with a Hayes kit (PP, clutch disc, and flywheel had major hot spots and uneven wear). Now the car is hard to get into 1st-6th and will not go into reverse unless I shut off the car. I can start the car while in reverse, but as soon as I let the clutch out it grinds the gear in reverse.

I have tried to bleed with the mighty vac, but I have not had much luck in getting bubbles out. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be going on?

I dont use that vacuum system for bleeding. It looks like the clutch does not release all the way, u should try bleeding(slave cylinder) it holding it upside down while your under the car, (first loose the nuts(not remove) that holds the clutchmaster cylinder just so it get some movement)with the reservior cap open press the 'shaft' from the slave several time slowly you will feel it get harder. once it get hard let you girlfriend put the lit on the reservior. thight the nut from the mastercylinder and install the slave. sorry for my english

The best method to bleed the clutch is to pressure bleed it. It works every time 5 minutes or less. The GM one that motiveproducts.com sells is the one that I use. It's 65bucks & worth every penny. If you get it all bled out and determine that your hydraulics are good, then it has to be a defective disc or pressure plate.

So I just purchased and installed a prebled unit from the ws6store. No luck, same thing is going on. Now I can hear a rumbling noise coming from the tranny. I was able to get in reverse once and then it popped out of gear. Now it is hard to get into every gear, reverse is the only one that grinds.

What clutch kit did you get?

If the car was creeping forward in neutral you've got a tranny problem, period! It's time to pull the trans and have it repaired or replace it.

Thanks for the link! I have been battling this problem since november. To say it is frustrating is an understatement.

I have basically started over at this point and just retracing my steps and I am also having the tranny looked at this week ( even though I do not think I have a tranny problem). If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
