Default Is this a GM slave? pics inside

The one on the left is one I got from ky speed, obviously not a GM one like it says on the site. ky speed said they and the place they get them from were out of slave cylinders so they ordered one from someone else. I am guessing that's the reason why I got the made in china piece of crap.

Anyway I read somewhere that o'reillys has a gm slave so I went and got one from them. (the one on the right) It had to be special ordered and the brand is wagner, it cost like $117 dollars I think. I am not sure if it is actually a genuine gm slave because it has this on the bottom.

So is this a gm slave or not? Just want to know for sure so when I need another I will know what to get.

I got one of those black slaves from Tick when I ordered all the trans and clutch stuff through them. Personally I am not very happy with the bullshit connections, and I may not use it on my car. Said car is a 750 NA horse Sof Loc clutch etc etc faceplated trans.

But I would really like to get an answer to weather the acdelco or the GM style slave is better also.

I do have a GM slave that looks just like the one you got from the parts store, and I been banging gears at 7800 for 2 years with it... with Zero issues out of the slave...

Does your gm slave have the little sticker on the bottom that says assembled in Mexico on it? That's what made me feel a little skeychy about it. I have read stuff on here that ac delco slaves suck, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Joey from tick said they had problems with them leaking. By the way it makes me wanna when stuff says made in china.

If you look at the release bearing it looks to be a gm one. I know it is not a BS advance one. I havent seen the ac delco one tho. can you find a part number on it?

If you look at the casting, it has "AP" stamped into it. The pic you posted on the right side is the one that I use all the time and never have problems with. They are probably all made by "AP". GM doesn't actually make most of their stuff anyway. AP appears to be a subcontractor that GM and many parts store chains use. Not to mention that slave looks exactly like all the OEM ones that I've removed from cars.
I don't know about the black one, though.

The one on the right looks like it could be a GM slave. Got any side pics?

I bought a Dorman from Rock Auto, and a AC Delco from my local dealer, and they were pretty much identical. The casting numbers and fittings on the base matched, and they both had identical SKF bearings. The dorman was 72.00 to my door, where the AC was 200+

The one on the right is a "GM" Slave. I remember reading when I did my clutch swap is if it has AP stamped on it with the D951004 and an orange hook up on it then the slave is an LS6 "GM" unit. AP manufactures them for GM and other aftermarket part suppliers. I think I paid ~$60 for mine from Advanced Auto Parts.

Thats odd. I used to buy slaves at O'Reillys and they retailed for $79.99. Now I get them at Autozone...its the exact one on the right-side picture and $10 cheaper.

I bought a slave for an LT1 from O'Reilys and the guy brought out two different brands they had but they were both marked "AP" and had the exact same markings on them. The cashier said different companies buy the cores and rebuild the insides - which makes it damn hard to tell if they are actually real GM parts or not later on.

Where are they getting the cores? I know my slave didn't have a core charge/return.

I've never heard of a reman'ed slave. Its cheap enough to just buy a new one anyway. The parts stores tend to over-complicate everything. If only they had "common sense" programmed in to their computer system, it would be a better world
Gotta love it when you tell them you need a part for a 1999 Trans Am, they ask is its a V6 or V8.. lol
Or you ask for a 2002 model and they say its a dealer-only item, but when you ask for an older model (1999 or 2000), they say its available.

You're guess is as good as mine. LT1's are pretty damn old and maybe GM or even AutoZone use to take cores on them back in the day.

The one on the right is NOT sold at advance or autozone. The one on the left is. It is made by perfection and does not hold up very well. They dont take much abuse. I would buy from the dealership and ask for a hook up on the wholesale price, thats what I did. got it for $160.00.
