GTO T56 (04-06) has a really short 1st gear.... they are geared to move a big heavy car. I like the Fbody gearing better. You could also buy a new T56 Magnum (TR6060 style internalls) which shifts light years better than any pre 2008 T56. I love mine!
Will the T56 Magnum if in a 4th Gen Fbody? I didn't think they would?
They did switch the material of the blocker ring material from paper to carbon around 98ish, and there was always some scuttle that synthetic would destroy the paper rings for those early year transmissions.
^^^Is this correct??
I've always heard that this happened for the '01-'02 (f body) model years ONLY.
This is an old one, but ran into the 1993 T56 earlier since I bought one, the above info seems to be what I found. 1993 LT Input Shaft is smaller on the drive gear, 1994 would have been the same size as the LS. Took a nice pic for reference. I'll buy a Corvette T56 and combine the parts, front 4 from that in this 1993 unit will do it.
