Default Problem after Pro 5.0 install

I bought a WS6 a couple of weeks ago and it had some kind of ebay knock off shifter in it. Bought a Pro 5.0 shifter and am having a little bit of an issue. The shifter sits off center, to the right, in the console. Anyone have any idea what is going on? Putting in reverse is kind of a PITA because it's binding up the leather boot and the console. Pic attached for reference. It is in neutral in the pic btw.

The stick is bolted on the left side of the shifter too. Forgot to mention that.

i would say its bolted on wrong side but you said its on the left side. hmm i dont know is it actually shifting threw all the gears?

i dont know much about 5.0s but if you cant fix it heat the steel near the bottom of the shifter and bend it toward the driver lol, the old hurst billet I had was done that way and it was angled toward the driver perfectly

I'll get a pic tomorrow with the boot off, but I do have the stick mounted to the left side I know. My buddy said the same thing about his Hurst shifter being angled towards the driver. IDK, it's a short stick and it's not angled at all so maybe it's just that. It shifts through all the gears, just hard to get into reverse.

doesn't the stock 5.0 handle come off of the shifter on an angle towards the driver? that would explain why with the straight stick it points toward the passenger side

That's normal. The reason is because the Pro 5.0 naturally has a stick curved towards the driver. Put the stock stick back on. My buddy cut about 1" off the threads and it was perfect... Or pay $15 and get a UMI Short stick shifter.

from what i remember, on the pro 5.0 shifter, its has an engraving (pro 5.0) on the base plate. when i installed on my car the engraving was reading upside down. check to make sure the engraving is reading upside down, if not then u installed it the wrong way

I am going to agree with the above post. It looks like you have it on backwards.

I was wondering if this was the problem too since its supposed to angle toward the driver side but his is angled the opposite direction.

It's installed right. I thought the same thing about the "Power Tower" stamp being upside down so I checked into it. I'm beginning to think it's the short stick thats on the shifter now. I got the Pro 5.0 used and it didn't come with the stick. The one thats on it now is not angled at all. Gonna order a UMI short stick and go from there.

Yep, if you have it installed right, it's definitely the stick. I remember looking at my friends Pro 5.0, and thinking if it didn't curve it would really suck. UMI short stick FTW!

Doing a little more research I found out the stick I have is a Lou's Short stick, except that there is no bend to it. It bends a little to the rear (very slightly), but no bend at all to either side. It's strait up and down. I'm going to try heating it and bending slightly before I order a UMI. Hopefully should be able to this afternoon after the boss gets home from work. Stay tuned kids...

Confirmed. Lou's Short Stick. Does he make different ones? This is the only one I've seen that doesn't have a bend in it.

From the PN, your stick is for a factory hurst with a bend, the straight-up Pro5.0 needs 52502A-BLK which will have the bend in the stick..

Gotcha. Yeah, there isn't any bending of that b!t$h either. I heated it for a good 5 mins and smacked it with a hammer in the vice and it didn't budge. I'm just gonna buy a UMI stick I guess.

Lou's stick for Hurst for sale! lol
