Exclamation LS6 clutch question, Newbie needs opinion.

I am converting my 2002 Z28 from A4 to M6. I have all nessecary parts and job is underway. I purchased a GMPP LS6 clutch setup, but do i need to change or upgrade the 00-02 slave and throwout to a GMPP one??? Summit racing states the upgrade must be done. Anyone do this, or run into this? If so what did u do??

I guess the first question would be.. Why do you want to go with the LS6 clutch??

I went with an LS6 clutch back in '04 when I did my LS6 longblock swap in my '98 Z28. I DID update to the newer slave, but used my old master cylinder...

I dont think you need the GMPP slave.. From what I have been reading in my searches here to try and help you it appears people are simply installing the clutch with no issues on 01 up cars.. I would just replace the slave anyways while you are in there.

The LS6 clutch came stock in the 01-02 F-bodies. There is no NEED to update the hydraulics, but it is a good idea to take care of it while its apart.

Thanks for the info guys, and not all 01-02 came with LS6 clutches, upon checking part numbers 731 or 806, the clutch that came from the 02 donor z28 (saw car and VIN) was a 731. With my setup, a full bolt on car, and also making car retain factory look and feel, the LS6 is a no brainer. Happy to say that i completed the swap from auto to M6 with no issues. 7 hrs total, and for those with probs with how to wire the reverse lock out......just wire hot to solenoid and attach ground to the p brake ground side switch. when you want reverse pull the p brake up 1 click. solves a4 to m6 harness wiring probs.

also used factory slave, no probs, but recommend bleeding master prior to plugging into slave for final bleeding, you'll save 30 mins of frustration.

thanks again guys.
