Default Removing Trans with Solid motor mounts??!!

My slave died on me and I started tearing into everything to replace it.
Well I got it torn down to the 8 tranny bolts but for the life of me couldnt get at the top pass side bolt.

I couldnt get a socket or extensions even to it as the top of the trans was too close to the bottom of the car.
This must be due to having solid motor mounts and there being NO flex to anything...the trans does not drop AT ALL when not supported.

Has anyone pulled the trans on a car with solid motor mounts? if so HOW THE F did you do it??

Would I be able to drop the K member at all to lower engine/trans to get at it?

Otherwise im screwed here with a car that I cant drive!

You'll have to lower the k-member.

Have you tried getting at it from inside the car? Through the shifter hole.

Yeah that is on my plate for this weekend.

Just the 6 bolts for the K right? anything else I should disconnect/watch out for?

I am hoping I can get by with only lowering about an inch or so.

Yes, there are 6 bolts.. You will have to completely remove the 2 rear k bolts as they are pretty short. It will easily lower an inch.. I had to lower mine after being a tard and forgetting to hook up my steering shaft after reinstalling my K and everything else when some motor work was done. I didnt notice any stress on anything. I would just loosen the steering shaft bolt up top if anything. Coming strait down it doesnt have much give. All the other stuff will have enough room for movement that you wont have to worry. Things to watch if you want to be picky would be the power steering lines to the rack, and the front brake lines in the plastic retainer on the drivers side. They shouldnt be an issue as mine werent but you never know.

If you dont want to mess with that take the intake off and you can get to the top bolt with ease. Then but the intake back on and do not re install the bolt.

HMM, this is odd.. I am running LPP SS LT headers and have no issues running my poly mounts.
Not to change the subject here but what was the issue?

On a side note. Make sure you use a jack on the K as you loosen the bolts.. If you loosen them too mcuh you could be crushed by the K falling on you.. It is hard to tell how much the bolts will thread out before running out of bolt.

Pretty much everywhere...1 side was under, 1 side was on top and 1 side was against the motor mount pedestal.

Driver side was up against the lip on the K or a arm housing whichever that is, so I had to saw that off. Other side was resting against the pedestal of the motor mount.

Pass side was sitting on top of the K or a arm housing whatever it is.

OH and yeah I planned on not trying to kill myself.
