It was a monster stage 3.5. To put into perspective, swapped out to a spec stage 3+ and was able to get full release in 5 turns. The slave looks fine and tested outside of car in a vice, could not get fluid to leak. Gm slave. It was good. Running a vette slave now, identical cept for throwout vearing. Swapped connectors.

I believe we just spoke on the phone and you told me you didn't change the hydraulics? You can have an internal leak of the slave with the seals blowing by and that could have been your problem. A bent disc upon initial install could have caused the disengagement issue, anxiously awaiting your pics to be sent to my e-mail.

OP it was good talking to you on the phone, as mentioned the pressure plate was clearly torqued down improperly as seen with only one side of the flywheel hot spotted and there is lots of fluid contamination visible.

Sorry, I was kind rambling on the phone, but yeah the slave that came out was bone dry. It was not leaking fluid anywhere, not a drop. I'll take pics of the old slave, it was working fine, but I'll gather my thoughts into proper post and timeline of events. I'm not looking for a free clutch or anything. I just want to know why it failed as to prevent a future failure for myself or anyone here. Keep in mind, I've got 10k miles on mine, no track and 1.5 years on it. So up until 1 week ago when the transmission all of a sudden became hard to shift, it was fine, even on the dyno the night before. I recall backing it out and driving it around normally.

-I've also pulled it and noted that my installation was fine. All bolts still blue loctited fine. I reinstalled a new clutch and am good to go, while it is a pain in the *** to swap out a clutch/slave, it's something I can do in a pinch.

A slave that has failed internally, is not going to leak externally. Again not trying to question your install capabilities, but looking for anything unusual in the pics.

you did do 200+ 6500rpm clutch drops. Your clutch must be used and abused. Nothing is meant to last forever. I couldnt even do 10 4k rpm drops on a ls7 cltuch. lol. even if the clutch is bad, i say monster clutches are bad ***!! I just wish they wouldnt chatter/ squeak so much otherwise i would pick one up right now since im in the market for a new clutch.

Looks like the act of putting on some grease onto the input shaft slung off onto the clutch disc and contaminated it over time. Was recommended by Chris that on future installs, don't grease the input shaft. This time around I didn't have much to grease it with so hoping it'll be ok on this install. I'll make a new thread with pics, but from the looks of it, my clutch started "expanding" as it separated from the hub hence I was not able to get full release regardless of how much I adjusted the clutch. The space b/w the flywheel and pressure plate allows for only so much material expansion.

The squeal/chatter can be attributed to how well a person can control there left and right foot, I've helped show many local customers how to adjust there driving. It's easier in person, but would be more than happy to try and help anyone not local over the phone.

It was good talking to you and glad we got to the bottom of things. As mentioned our instructions now mention not to lube the pilot bearing or input shaft. The extra heat, from the fluid contamination broke down the material causing the issues. Hope this info helps others out there, Chris

The clutch still had life left, after taking the tranny out I found that the shop I had install it didnt torque the PP bolts and cause an uneven wear pattern. the bolts were backing out The week before I pulled the tranny Id cut a low 1.6 60..the car has never been better than a 1.58 so it wasnt slipping, I yanked the tires pretty good, it just wouldnt go into gear. But Thanks to Steve and Chris..They set me up with new clutch!!! Hopefully I get it next week..Iv got some *** whoopns to hand out now that the cars been down for a bit!
