i'm just debating your opinion and would like someone else to back it up as well. i've had mine apart before as well.
i've seen your handy work with the link you posted and doesn't really impress me so i would like someone else to back up your thoughts on the stock stops.
all transmissions have stock "stops" so why the **** do any aftermarket companies make aftermarket shifters with stops built in!?!?

just how good is that shifter and transmission working if you've had it apart so many times?
riddle me that one.

ok pal, i was just trying to help you out
first who said ive only had my trans apart?
second not all trans have stops built in for example t5's
third what does the couple of pieces of scrap metal that i use to make a stick adapter have to do with my handy work? could have i made it look prettyer ? yes without a doubt but i was not going to waste time making something pretty thats never going to be seen, hell that was done with my 50$ 110v harbor fright welder, just because i did not feel like getting my 220v Lincoln out and setup
third why would one of the best shifter makers not put stops (and factory) in there shifter if it was needed?
im done with this thread go buy a pro 5.0 or whatever you want and keep missing gears![Thumb](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/thumb.gif)
there is a some trans that do not have internal stops and because of this im sure the aftermarket companies put them in all of there shifters just to cover there *** and so they don't have to do the r&d to find out which ones do and don't

That only thing that does is make sure you engage the right gear, the detent ball below the gate pattern it to keep the transmission in the selected gear. Both of these parts have nothing to do with preventing transmission damage. You can in fact shift past these with a stock shifter, bending / breaking shift forks and jamming syncros. Just because you can take it apart and put it back together, does not mean you know what it does.
As for the shifter debate, I love my Pro 5.0, with short stick and pistol grip.

I have had HURST, PRO 5.0 and MGW hands down the MGW is the best shifter on the market for our cars. Quite wasting time on the 5.0 limit adjustments, they are not needed! the engineers that built the T-56 trans designed the internal stops for a reason. Maybe Joey atTick or D&D can add their experience on the subject.
