Default Clutch pedal is as hard as a rock?

I am working on finishing up my conversion and attempted to bleed the clutch assy, but when I was done, the pedal is as hard as a rock? The pedal comes right back up after pushing it and the car does go into gear but you barely let up on the pedal and it goes(maybe 1" from floor). I am using the stock GTO clutch master, but I had to shorten the lines from the master to the slave by cutting off the quick connects and adding a direct line with compression fittings, because the master was so close to the slave.
Any ideas???This is the first time I have messed with a hyd clutch and maybe I didn't bleed it correctly??? I see posts of jacking the car up? Maybe the master from the GTO is bad?
Thanks in advance....
