Question Flywheel retention tool

I,m ready to change my clutch and, as far as I know, I need a flywheel retention/locking tool so I can unbolt and remove the flywheel.
I went looking for it to pepboys, kragen, autozone, sears, snapon.com, and napa. They don't have it in any of these places.
Where did you do-it-yourself guys get it? I'm out of ideas.
It is necessary right?

Why do you need a flywheel retention tool to change out your clutch? The bolts holding the flywheel in do not require using a flywheel holder to break the bolts loose.

The only time you need a flywheel holder is if you're trying to remove/install the harmonic balancer bolt on an A4 or if the motor is on an engine stand.

You could use a standard flywheel tool when removing and tightening the pressure plate bolts though.

I was reading a couple of clutch install instruction sources and they both say that it is needed.

If you have a buddy helping you out he can hold the crank bolt while you loosen and tighten the flywheel bolts. If you don't have a friend you could also put a flat head carefully between the starter gear and flywheel teeth.

Took the words out of my mouth...

Also, if you're by yourself, stick a TQ wrench on the crank bolt and hold it with your legs while you break the Flywheel bolts loose. Shadetree type ****

Naaaa
all you have to do to get those flywheel bolts off is take a large Flat blade Screwdriver and stick in in one of the teeth on the fly wheel and the starter housing.
They aren't that hard to get off.
I have done a dozen of them like this and have yet to damage anything.
