Help with Pro 5.0 install
Help with Pro 5.0 install After owning the SS for around 8 years I finally decided to get a pro 5.0 shifter.
When i took it out of the box something looked odd to me.
My queston is, is the stamping on the shifter body upside down when its installed?
Looking at it with the writing upright the handle is on the left, not the right.

to me it had a "raw" feeling to it, it's a bit louder than the stock one as it doesn't have that bushing in it, but you know exactly what gear you are in each single time, the shifts are awesome, and it moves around in like notches... best way i could describe it. Let me know how you like it after you take it for a spin
yup what they said, the stamp is upside down when installed. Its been years since i've installed mine and this one made me smile because i remember worrying about the same thing when i installed it.
I threw on a LSS (lou's short stick) on my Pro5.0 and i couldnt be happier w/ it. Like the others say its a bit louder than stock. One thing i did to help keep dust out of the shifter (which also quieted it down a bit) was to pull that rubber boot/accordian cover thats on top of the stocker and stretch it over the Pro5.0 shifter (the rubber boot in your last pic). Maybe I was being paranoid but i just didnt want any dirt/debris falling in there. Just a tip if you want to cut some of the noise out. One more tip, maybe not a big issue if you're just going to keep the Pro5.0 stick on there but some thread lock might be a wise investment. Had my bolts wiggle out enough to make the LSS wobble on a trip after my first decent length trip after install.

I finally got some free time and installed it today.
I did trim the rubber boot to fit around the bottom of the brass ring.
My shifter is now the Pro 5.0, with a UMI short stick threaded for an 03 Cobra ****.
I love it, gotta get use to it but love it so far.

LOL, I'm in the same boat, I have had one in my closet for over a year now & am just getting ready to install it soon. I"m gonna be using the WS6store short stick from my stock shifter & a white Hurst ball.
