Which Shifter is Correct I'm a newbe so go easy on me. I'm trying to learn.
I recently bought 2000 Z28 SS with the 6-speed manual transmission. I have a chrome shifter with a leather shift **** on it. It has the "H" in the leather. I have also seen black shift levers with the "SLP" in the ****. Which is correct, is mine aftermarket? So far all cars I've seen have the black lever.
Also, I have seen most cars with an all black boot. Mine has red stitching on it. I'm wondering if I have a factory shifter or not.

Which Shifter is Correct Here are a few pics (double click to enlarge) that I took of my shifter and one that I bought at a later time.
What is correct and what is not? I'm restoring the car and would like it to be correct.
Also, I have a black shifter with an all black boot and the same **** except that it that says SLP on it.
How would my car have come new?

if your car was ordered with the hurst shifter....
it would have the H leather covering & black rod that is bent..... with a boot cover grayish or ebony colored boot with same stitching.

Your last pic shows the oem boot and shifter rod. The **** could have been the H or a Ball. But since SLP built the cars, the SLP **** could have been installed there as directed.
Keep in mind, the SS was finished at SLP, not GM.

Its probably a stock hurst with an aftermarket handle, like a WS6Store stick. Can you take a pic of the shifter base? Whats it look like under the shift boot?
That is the stock Hurst ****, aftermarket stick, and boot like was said before. The B&M Ripper has a machined finish on the stick.
