Default grinding clutch

Having issues with my stock clutch. The other day wot in mid of 2nd gear, and the clutch slipped back out and is now making a grinding noise. The clutch pedal feels same as was before. During idle, there's no noise difference. Reverse is fine as well. As of now, if shifts above 2500 the clutch grabs. Anything below its starts grinding or shuddering, or any acceleration other than my grandmother will cause this. The noise I can best relate sounds like a pop can scraping. I'm no sure if this if just slippage. Stock clutch with around 80k. Makes 390 to the wheels. I plan on upgrading the clutch to ls7. Is this the culprit, or could there be something else causing this. The slave was replaced to a 01-02 2 years ago. (i broke the bleeder screw off the stock). Could it be bad throw out bearing, input shaft, broken pressure plate fingers? I can't seem to find anything in my searches. Any ideas?

Just bite the bullet & replace it. If it is the origional clutch, it's more than 10 years old & well past it's prime.

followed advice and went ahead and replaced the clutch with ls7, along with pp, and flywheel. It grabs great, haven't got on it yet, just drove it home my uncles. Here are some pics of the old clutch. The clutch springs look to be what I heard grinding. Could someone chime in and shed some light on what could have caused this?
