Not your normal fluid question Ok i have been around t56's for awhile now since i have had my m6 but... My uncle just had his t56 rebuilt and the tranny shop is telling him to put 75w 90 in it due to the fact that dex evaporates, has anyone ever heard of this before? and has anyone ever heard of running acutal 90 weight instead of auto tranny fluid or syncmesh?

The T56 takes Dex III ATF regardless of whether or not it has been rebuilt - I can't even begin to imagine why they are suggesting such a heavy weight oil, and it makes me think you might want to have someone else look over their work before reinstalling that transmission. If they don't even know what kind of oil it takes, I'm not sure I'd trust them to rebuild one.
And the last time I checked, when I put 4 quarts of Dex III ATF in, 4 quarts come out when I do a drain/refill. Things would have to get pretty hot in the transmission for that oil to burn off/evaporate, and if that was the case, you'd have bigger problems.

Ok thanks guys, I thought there was something up when they said use the regular 90 weight... We put the tranny in and it whines pretty good so we pulled it and the shop is looking at it now, i will tell him to throw dex in it when he gets it back.

We will see how it comes out this time around cause it was free for them to pull it apart and take a look, if its still having problems i will have him take it somewhere else.
Free minus the time and aggravation you've spent pulling it back out and taking it to them - I don't know about you, but my time ain't free, and neither is transmission fluid, especially the correct transmission fluid.

Ok new news... input shaft gear burnt along with counter shaft gear, found a tranny shop here in Colorado that deals with t56's alot they said take the tranny back they will do all the work and that my uncle should take the other shop to small clams court for the new parts and labor costs. They are saying that the reason it got so hot is due to the gear oil the other shop said to use.
