Shifter rattling
Shifter rattling Hey guys I'm getting some good rattle in my shifter when on the gas.
I put in prothane motor mounts when the headers got installed.
Any ideas on why I'm getting so much rattle? It gets louder and louder as RPM's increase. 2002 SS with 70k

did you recently replace the drive shafts?? since you just changed the motor mounts have you check your transmission mount?

Do you have an aftermarket shift ****? I have the white Hurst 6 speed ball **** and had to remove it because at high rpm without my hand on it that thing would be vibrating violently and making all sorts of racket.
+1 My hurst **** rattles like a sob at high rpm unless i put my hand on it and squeeze a little...lol

****, I do have a hurst shifter. It's the stock one from slp I believe, when I hold it down in gear it does help it a little.

I have the factory Hurst shifter and 1LE poly trans mount I believe. When I put my short stick in, I put thick double stick tape on both sides of the "offsetting block." This seems to have worked, as the guy who gave me the short stick warned me it may get loud/rattle at higher R's, but I noticed no difference over the factory stick. If that makes any sense?
