Default T56 Leak (PICTURES)

Ok, so my transmission has been leaking, its coming from the bellhousing/main body, but it doesnt run up the sides.. the silicone that was there wiped off easily.. so maybe that was it? also I have some leak coming from the small slit between bellhousing and the block.. i would assume its oil? but its kinda gritty? maybe its just more dex3 but its covered in brake dust? or is it engine oil?

Well, I would suggest that if you smelled the oil it would either smell like tranny fluid or engine oil. Thats one way to figure it out.

But, unfortunately considering that the leak is coming from the bellhousing area that the tranny needs to come out for inspection. It looks like ATF in the photos which suggests a leaking front input shaft seal. But, without having it apart it is hard to say.

3 potentials:
1) Engine oil = AMBER & THICKER THAN #2&3
2) Dex 3 ATF=RED
3) CSC fluid ( brake fluid) = amber (if old black)

im liking option 3 here, its pretty dark.. which is why i dont think it oil.. the oil in my car is still good looking, but if theres a ton of brake dust it could turn black.. sorry for being a noob, but by brake fluid you mean the fluid in the clutch system? correct? idk why else brake fluid would be in there.. i still dont even know how non cable clutches work lol.. im coming from a mustang and it was cable so.. but console is out..

another newb question.. what is this suspension piece going from my transmission to my rear end.. is it a torque arm? i have no clue, sorry for being dumb lol.. also.. why is the stocky y pipe attached to the trans xmember? lol.. gonna have it pick up an o/r y while im doing all this, this stock one is soooooo restricted its crazy.. its almost flat lmao
