Default T56 magnum on lm7?

Hi

Im building up a nissan with lm7 engine and the swapkit is made for using fbody ls1 and gearbox.

Will it be possible to use the t56 Magnum instead of the f-body t56? Does they have the same brackets/mounts etc?

I also wonder what do I need more to use a t56 with lm7? Is they bolt on if I buy ls1 flywheel and clutch?

If you get the LS version T56 Magnum then you should just get a f-body bellhousing. You can use any LS1/6 clutch or LS2/7 clutch. Use a F-body slave.

Do a search and you can see the different dimensions that compare a Magnum to an F-body T56. The shifter is in a slightly different location as is the trans mount. None of these differences are insurmountable.

You need to make sure you have adequate tunnel clearance with the magnum tail. I have done a Nissan s14 and just had enough to clear the tunnel with an f-body t56.

Im currently swapping a 5.3 Lm7 in my s14 as well. and aside from tunnel clearance, do you think the driveshaft length would be different if you ran a f-body vs magnum? my mount kit states its designed for t56 or t56 magnum.

The trans mount I used was a sikky brand. It was made to bolt up to the factory transmission body location and f-body t56. The Magnum is longer than a f-body t56 and I really don't think it will work. Also the driveshaft length will be different.

Look at the length from front of bell to mount Via this picture I loaded up.

Looks to be a 1/2" longer where the mount goes.

The f-body is 31-1/4" vs 33-1/2" for the magnum.

Yeah the sikky mount kit is what im using. So i need a f-body t56. Are those just as hard to find/just as pricey as a magnum? What did you do to source your fbody trans

I am always on the classifieds here and also on craigslist looking for good deals. That's your best bet.

The Magnum is longer than the Fbody or GTO T56. You will need an extended shifter like the Sikky one and a driveshaft that is shorter than the one for the fbody/GTO. Keep an eye out for classified as noted by DG.

you can easily modify the 6 bolt shifter that comes with the Magnum using a 1/2" piece of round steel bar stock and set it back to the desired area. Cut off shifter stick mounting pad on shift selector, drill a hole for 1/2" to be welded in place, figure out desired length, weld it up... then weld on shifter stick mounting pad on rear of bar stock. No need for a $500 Sikky shifter.

The Magnum also requires a different VSS pigtail and a mechanical speedo blockoff plug (if you use the VSS style speedo). It also doesn't have any provision for a torque arm... so the factory one won't bolt up. The trans mount is in the same place.
