MN12 Issue
Hey guys,
So I bought an 02 Z06 earlier in the spring and just recently have had a problem with my tranny. So its a bolt on car with an short throw shifter, LS7 clutch and remote slave bleeder installed in 2007 by a shop in Texas. (I have the receipt)
So anyways, the problem is if I get above ~3500rpm's I cannot get it out of gear...it will grind and almost be in between gears. I have done the maintenance and the clutch fluid is clear and I also bled the clutch and not sure what else/if there is anything else I can do before getting the whole thing rebuilt
Also, it always has been notchy (I know the t-56 is like that with a short throw) and it always will go into gear, but just cannot get back out at high RPM.
Any ideas on whats going on?

I have personally never done a clutch on a vette, but it seems to be one of those sort of "routine" jobs that many mechanics are prone to screw up, read about it a lot on forums, good luck.
One of the best Vette shops in the country is DRM Doug Rippe Motorsports in Minnesota, google it & see if you can get there or call Randy at DRM and talk to him.

Are you guys catching the fact that the LS7 clutch was done in 2007? And it is now almost 2012 and it was done for the previous owner of the car? Who knows how that owner drove the car. Sure take it back to the shop in Texas and tell them it was installed incorrectly and you will probably get some good old Texas hospitality (cowboy boot up the ***) Good Luck

This is exactly why I steer all my customers/friends away from the LS7. It's an extremely finicky clutch with the self-adjusting pressure plate. The LS7 is very over-rated as it's nothing but a glorified stock clutch. I'd go with a new setup. Check my sig for the Diamond Clutches. The Stage 2 basic kit is on sale for $379 shipped and is good for 550rw. I also have several different billet flywheels to choose from from $150-$230.
