Will it come out of gear in with the car off? Might not be releasing all the way, what master do you have?

Common issue with the T56 if they have stock shift keys or the shimming is a little too loose.

Get ready for a rebuild or learn to avoid 4th. Both of mine got rebuilt over the exact same thing. Let the car sit a day or so and it'll probably pop back out. You can try playing with it and it might come out. Tick rebuilt both of mine and Ive had great service from them. I'm about to buy another car tomorrow so they may be getting to do a 3rd one for me. Good Luck.

My last car did the same thing, got stuck in gear, ending up getting a new tranny.

Any possibility of being able to pull the shifter and manually unjamming throughout the forks

It's usually not a shift fork issue. What most likely happened is the 3-4 keys were in the process of breaking. Once they get beat up, they'll come out of place putting the 3-4 sleeve in a bind, hence causing it to get stuck (in gear). If you managed to get it "un-stuck", then you probably just finished breaking the keys so and the pieces fell out, allowing the sleeve to move freely. So it's definitely not "fixed", you'll need a rebuild before it ruins the engagement teeth on 3rd and/or 4th gear, if it hasn't already. If you are not going to DIY, check my sig for upgraded T56 builds, starting at $680 parts/labor and cheap shipping if needed.

Thanks

Mine did that and that was the end of the tranny. I couldnt even kick it out of fourth, lol. Had to drive home from an hour away on top of it in traffic which meant the clutch was toast.
