shift knob removal/install question

shift **** removal/install question I've got an 02 z28 M6. I just bought an slp leather "H" **** to replace the stock ball shape ****.
How do you go about taking the old **** off and installing the new? I heard it just twists off like a screw but it doesn't seem to want to do this.

Remember lefty loosey, righty tighty. I had trouble getting mine off once and it had been on and off a million times. It must have shrunk some how because when it did finally come off it twisted like a rag. Get something like a bath towel that won't hurt your hands from trying to twist and give it all you got. It'll come off. GL
Yeah I had the same problem thinking it may have been reverse threads or something the first time I tried taking my Hurst ball off. Then I realized I was using my purse to loosen it and manned up, it came right off haha! If you can't get good enough grip on it I'd recommend one of those rubber pads that women use in the kitchen to get lids off the food they will make for you later on at dinner.
Yeah noo doubt. I drove my buddys camaro with a stock shifter and **** in it. I have a B&M short throw with the Hurst ****. Psh if I ever get another Camaro first thing I'll be doing is the short throw again, I couldn't believe how long the throws were in his car and the weird grip on the stock ****.

I just had the same problem but I wrapped my shift **** with a thick cloth and used a pipe wrentch it worked well and I didn't harm the **** I'n the process. Believe me I thought somebody glued it on or something. Hope this may help

Hi everyone.
Is there any addition threaded part between the shifter and the **** ?
The previous owner installed a very ugly **** so i want to replace it ever by the original one or by a black ball...
The problem is the there is no thread on the shifter.
It is just a metal bar. There was tape on it to make the ugly **** hold.
Have i to find out a threaded insert to add between the stick and the **** ?
