Exclamation No Reverse After Rebuild: 2004 GTO T56

Got the call yesterday saying my car was all done (tranny rebuild) nice !

I get to my tuners shop and the car is backed in so I go and pay him for the install, put my new battery in and nice I'm driving my GTO again and not my crapbox Jetta.

Everything goes good I pull out of the spot there get to my dads to back it in.. No reverse reverse lights come on but it just feels like there isn't anything there.

I don't get how it would work earlier in the day but of all a sudden not in a couple of hours from just sitting at my tuners shop.

Any ideas or help would be great. Thanks. -JOEY-

Check rev-lockout fuse to see if it's blown.
Do you have 5&6 gears?
What type and amount of fluid used?
How many miles on the rebuilt trans?

Sounds like either the rebuilder or tuner need to step up.

I have another lock out solenoid that I'm going to try and switch out if the fuse is good, fuse be under the hood ?

Reverse worked when my tuner had it, he wasn't there when I picked it up and the reverse didn't act up till I got it home.

Yes I have 5th and 6th gear.
Mobil 1 synthetic ATF
20-25 miles on rebuild

Don't bother replacing the solenoid, just check the fuse. You should be able to muscle the shifter over into reverse and make things happen regardless.

If I was a betting man, I'd say the synthetic fluid, lack of assembly lube, and lack of break-in all contributed to your reverse bearing burning up during a tuning session.

I didnt get it tuned, just had him put the tranny in because I didn't have time, I tried to muscle it in but didn't wanna break it. Which fuse is it ?

And the only place it was driven was around the block to make sure everything was good and then the 10 mile trip from my tuners shop to my dads house, roads were slick so it wasn't beat on, and it was working earlier in the day ?

There isn't any grinding or any noise for me to think it would be a mechanical problem, it just feels like its blocked it of reverse

I don't think I would be wasting time on here but taking it right back to whomever did the tranny work. Let them worry about it.
