Default T56 life span, normal abuse?

I will be swapping short blocks this spring as well as my clutch. Car will be 450+rwhp, is not raced, but does see the occasional hard shifts. Tranny is original, 112,000 miles, currently shifts great with no troubles.

So my question - is it worth it to rebuild it now? Or do they have a 200,000 mile life expectancy? Etc. I don't want to needlessly have it rebuilt and I would appreciate any input and experiences!

If it is working well, just leave it as is and rebuild it when there actually is a problem. My $0.02.

There is no set life of transmissions. I have worked on them still under warranty and opened up units at 200K that have never been touched before.

Depends on how it's maintained and beat on.

Mine has 198,000 miles and still shifts ok, I road race and granny shift it but it does ok.
