Default Oppinions on Hurst Billet/Plus shifter

I was thinking of purchasing this shifter for my Trans Am. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it, and whether people think that it is worth the price.

I am looking for something with a shorter throw than the stock shifter, and have always thought highly of the Hurst name.

Please let me know what you think.

I have the hurst billet plus and I'll tell you, it is notchy as hell. But gives firm complete shifts every time. It has adjustable shift stops as well.

I like the notchy feeling as I never have to second guess if it's in gear or not.

I say it's definitely worth the money.

I have one and love it. I got the chrome stick and put my old school 4-speed white ball on it.

I've had this in my car for 13 years and its been great. I also like that you can send them back to Hurst for a rebuild if the parts ever wear out.

Is it worth it? IMO - the stock shifter is so crummy, you could replace it with a wet noodle and get an improvement. So, anything else is worth it. There are other threads here where people have compared the performance of different shifter options. (Everyone is going to tell you that their baby is best, but there are some out there who have tried multiple brands and have pretty objective reviews.)

As bww3588, the shifter is more about the feel. If you want shorter shifts, you should order a short stick for it. I have a short stick also and really like it.

Agreed. I have the ws6store short stick with my billet plus and its a very short shift. The only complaint I have is when in reverse, the stick hits the console a little bit. In hind sight, I would have got the Lou's short stick as it's angled slightly to the drivers side.

depending on your funds, I would say go for an MGW.
