Default Clutch Starter Switch Issues

Been having issues the last week or so with the clutch starter switch on my SS ('00). Seems everytime I would try to start the car, nothing happened until I pressed the clutch a little harder. Get in the car this afternoon, same thing except now it won't start at all. So, I take apart the dash, remove the switch, get a new replacement from the auto store, install the new switch (drumroll please) and the car still won't start. So, what else could it be?

are you sure it was related to the clutch switch? or could it have just been the process of turning the key a few times?

maybe vats is going?

Don't know. Car responds as though I'm trying to start it without pressing the clutch. I've replace that starter switch as well as the starter and ignition fuses. No difference.

Does your 'security' light come on?

All the "system" lights come on when the key is turned, as they normally do.

Short the wires going to the switch. If it starts, there's your problem. If not, look elsewhere.

Any other suggestions on what the issue could be?

Maybe there is something holding the switch closed? Have you tried to visually check the switch is releasing with the pedal?

i did an a4 to 6spd changeover and just spliced those wires together deleting the switch altogether. code comes up every now and then. just have to remember to take out of gear. old timer way. can reach in and start car from outside now. just got to remember e-brake and outa gear.
