clutch help needed.....
i have blown up my spec stage 3 its a long story and ill state it below.....however because of this i do not want to go back to a spec and want sdome opinions on a clutch or two cant afford a street twin right now....tho thats what i want. i need a clutch somewhere around 600 bucks i was think of either the Cartek Clutch or a Rev Lok II clutch which i believe mcleod makes... i am pushing 485/567 to the tire and need a clutch to handle it.
"my New spec stage 3 clutch with only about 6,000 miles on it has gone boom..... driving on the highway it just gave out in mid run and burned up completely. with a big black cloud coming from under the hood. the car is no longer able to move. its only been to the track once with that clutch in the car and yes the car was sprayed...
the spec stage 3 is supposed to handle up to 680 hp lbs of tourqe im putting down 485 hp.....
tho im close to its limits do you think the clutch should have held up.... this is my theory....the clutch went a few days after i went to the track....keep in mind we have not taken the tranny out to take a look yet..... i think i might have bent one of the fingers in the pressure plate and that did not allow the clutch to press against the flywheel completely and it slowely deteriorated the disc and then finally gave out. do you think this maybe have been the cause?
i just want to get some opinions on this.
i am going to replace the clutch with a mcleod probably this week or the following and while its down ill also have my heads ported"
