Post Clutch Install Question
Background:
I am nearly through an LS2/T56 swap into a Miata. Prior to the winter hitting I got the car up and running (Great sound and feeling). As I continuously read these sort of forums I come across new items that I didn't quite know were issues. One being the need to check the TOB/Slave to clutch fork gap. I have an ACT clutch kit with resurfaced GTO fly. Right now at the top of my pedal stroke there is a little freeplay. I know this could also be air in the hydraulics.
My questions: Is there a way to determine if everything is functioning as it should (i.e. proper throw, air gap)? With the Miata I pretty much have to drop the engine and tranny to separate the two so I would have to unhook everything I finished prior to storage. I have heard of using a hole saw to drill an inspection port into the bellhousing to measure the clutch disc to flywheel gap when the pedal is pressed. Is this a viable alternative to determining whether the setup is inspect?
Thanks and I appreciate the feedback,
