Default Ls7 clutch grabs

Just finished my ls1 in my 69 Camaro with an ls7 clutch and new hydraulics. It runs great the only thing is the clutch grabs pretty hard...not complaining but it is a little touchy to drive. Once the clutch grabs it goes...seem s like the friction point is very tight. I have to rev it and slip the clutch a little to get a smooth take off, the problem is on hills I have to slip it and smelled a little burnt clutch. The hydraulics are bled and work great it just grabs real hard.my question is will it smooth out after a few hundred miles and the clutch breaks in? Thanks

Well I just checked and I have a 2.73 rear axle ratio, I think this is causing my problem since I have to rev the engine and slip the clutch in first gear or it will bog and buck. Going to go to 3.73. Anyone care to comment?

that sound like it could be your issue. what m/c are you using, keep in mind a master that flows a lot of fluid will make the clutch grab quicker. as far as gears go though I would go 3.90's or 4.10 with a 26" tire you'll only spin 2k at 80mph with 4.10s

What size MC are you using? Yes, going with 3.73 gears will make a huge difference.

Running new f body stock hydraulics. Modified the clutch master by making it adjustable. I set the clutch friction point closer to the floor and that helped. I also am keeping the rpm's as low as possible when letting out the clutch. This is not the smoothest take off but I am not smelling any burning. I am going to pull out the rear end and go with an auburn posi and 3.90 gears. I am sure this will help a lot.

With the 2.73 it's like trying to take off in second gear each time. I have read a lot of complaints from ls7 owners about the smell until the clutch breaks in. Thanks for the help.
