Default Monster clutch and tick master review

Just wanted to share this information with those of you that may be in the market for a new clutch and or master. I took advantage of the $100.00 off Tick Performance sale had on Monster clutches last month. I read several reviews (mostly all great) and spoke to Chris direct for a decent amount of time about what clutch and new master would best suite my application. In the end I went with a stage 2 and a new tick master and slave unit. I was told over and over by Chris himself that the stage 2 with their master cylinder would drive almost like stock. 5% stiffer to quote his exact words. Well last week I installed everything and the outcome wasn't remotely close to what Chris said it would be. The pedal is so stiff that after a short while driving the car my leg feels like it had been hit with a bat. I called monster and spoke directly to them about it and they said it wasn't their clutch making it so stiff, it was the Tick master. He said add another 12-15% over the factory GM master along with roughly another 5% with the stage 2 clutch. I mentioned to him that Chris failed to mention this to me and he went on to explain that Chris should have passed that info along and his only thoughts as to why he didn't is because he is fairly new at Tick Performance. He also mentioned I wasn't the first person to have called with this complaint and that he was going to message Chris personally and explain to him that he needs to pass this info along to the consumer.

Long story short, I would have never bought the Tick master if I had known this information before hand. So I've basically wasted over $150 on a master and I'm currently stuck driving a car with a stiff *** clutch until I can afford to buy and replace the Tick with a new GM master. Just wanted to share this for those who may be in the market.

I need/want the Tick Master Cylinder for awhile now, I cant stand shifting at even 5500 and needing to put my foot under the clutch pedal to bring it back up, kills me on the street against new 5.0s!

You must have weak legs.... it's not nearly as stiff as you make it out to be. At least not in normal cases.

well i can vouch for monster i just installed a level 2 monster and have a two month old tick. honestly i hate how soft it is. i bled it for prob about 4 hours because of all the reviews ive read about how heavy it is or should be. this clutch it by far the easiest and smoothest clutch iver ever had. compared to my centerorce i just threw out its about 10% of the effort literally. start hittin the gym budd

Just installed my new Monster Stage 2 w/ a Tick Master. It's a lot more stiff than what the guys at Tick said, but after driving it for a few days I'm already use to it. This clutch/master is bad ***! I can bang/row through the gears like butter now. No more sticking pedal and shifting into gears at high RPM's is no longer a issue! Thumbs up for Monster!

it is stiffer but i think the advantage it has over the stock master definately out weighs it. it's still not as stiff as a lot of even stock cable clutches i've drivin. i've been in mustangs with not even crazy clutches that make our clutches feel like your pressing the gas pedal.

i'd drive it for a while before you decide to swap it out. you may get used to it and change your mind.

Hit the gym Sally. I have a Monster Level 3 and Tick and have no issues. Pedal pressure is great. Obviously stiffer than stock but that is expected. If you want a nice light clutch pressure, buy a Honda.

I ran a level 4 Monster and Tick master with no problems with the pedal sticking or being too stiff. It was just right. Nothing my chicken legs couldn't handle!

It can't be as bad you make it sound. I have the tick master and it is just a little stiffer than it used to be stock.

Monster stage 3 Tick MC here..its definitely stiffer than stock but personally I like it better..buddy of mine has the same setup and its not as stiff as mine so maybe it has alittle something to do with the install/how your MC is set!!

I'm running a Monster Stage 2 and a custom fabbed Tilton 7/8" master. Pedal feel is outstanding, and the clutch is stone cold bad-***...I couldn't be any happier with my setup. I agree with the others, if everything is properly set up it shouldn't be too stiff at all.
