Default 96 Lt1 T56 REBUILD HELP NEEDED!!

Ok so here is the deal, this is a 96 t56 from a camaro, the car would go into 3rd gear without a grind every time however 85% of the time as you let the clutch out it would pop out and start to grind. Other times it would stay in. If you took the RPM's around 4500 to 5000 and did a fast shift into 3rd it would go in every time and stay in. no grinds. at cruise and downshifting it was the 85% average it would work. So i took it apart, and i have a few questions. The synchro slider assy/ blocker / gear look to be in good shape, the bearing the gear is on is nice and tight, this transmission had the metal spacer not the plastic, The shift fork did not have any excessive play on the shift rail however the pads looked to be a little beat up on the 4th gear side, and on the slider there are marks where it looks like it was smashed up against 4th gear really tight. Now putting stuff back on and playing with the slider i noticed when i engage 4th gear all the way the keys pop out of place. (i dont think its normal) (and i never had a problem with 4th, but I was going to order a steel fork with new pads and start from there, so far the only problem i can see is the 4th gear engaging too far, I assume there are stops that limit this with all the linkage hooked up. 3rd gear engaging as it should. Im hoping it is something to do with the fork. i am stumped! can the fork be bent? I have some pictures i will post in a few min. Thanks alot i appreciate any help or adivce.

new iron fork, bronze fork pads, blocker rings, proper shimming, billet keys and you'll be good to go in 3-4.

Shimming is in the Tremec manual. Download it.

Nope, they're not required. Overshifting of the synchro sleeve lets them drop out partially then get crimped and sheared by the synchro. Billet ones avoid that issue but if you're not a ham-fist and want stock ones, go for it.

I was not planning on removind any bearings as they are in good shape, I will check preload when I reassemble, also is it bad that I was able to pull my 5/6 of by hand?

5-6 should be an interference fit so yeah that's bad. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...hlight=cluster
