Clutch recommendations (Twin disks?)
Hi,
I've recently got a F-body LS3(L92) and T56 for my '70 GTO conversion that will weight approx 3700lbs. My goal is 600-650 rwhp/tq.
I would like a clutch kit that will hold the power obviously but also be smooth enough for my novice wife to drive.
I'm also not sure if the t56 being mated to the gen IV L92/LS3 motor will cause a problem???
I was thinking a LS9 or LSA clutch might work??? Has anyone retrofitted one from a 6060trans to the T56?? I've also heard great things from other companies like Mcleod, Tex, Ect but I was hoping to not break the bank as this project is becoming $$$$.
Thanks in advance.

The Ls9 Clutch in a F-body ya have to use Katechs Flywheel n stuff to make it work and they are 1800+ for the kit.....Im looking in to one myself for my Zo6
Ls9 Flywheel is completely diff than ours and ours wont work...
Im at a toss up because the McLeods are also good, half the money but ya get Noise from every other after market Twin Disc because the Floater Plate Rattles, unless you dont have cam lope at idle- Tick says thats what makes the noise is the floater w a car w solid mounts or a Choppy Idle

if so you would need a twin disc clutch for the car model the donor car was.
I LOVE my McLeod Street Twin. smooth stock like engagement but ABSOLUTELY no slip when you dump the clutch. I would look into a McLeod MC if using their Twin.

pic shows floater plate strap (with shims) in it's own stand next to the PP stand
IMHO after running multiple clutch brand single disc clutches, the twin is the best for street maners and holding ability over single disc clutches with aggressive disc material

We just put in a L3 in a 2010 Camaro that makes 490rwhp and the woman daily drives it. You can't use a LS9/LSA flywheel as it uses a 8-bolt crank, not 6-bolt like all other LS cranks. If you are going to use a t56, just be sure you use a small pilot bearing instead of the large one that comes with the LS3 and 6060. Don't hesitate if you have any other questions about a Monster, Chris 817-750-2000
