I got it!! The alignment pins on the tranny were fighting the quick time bell housing. All is good now. Thanks for the help everyone.

Well first off in order to center the disc in the cover the pilot has to be pushed up to center it. Second i did not buy the bell housing the customer did. I did not want to use it and third pushing the pedal in will of course push the trans back because of it's design. Years ago people used to do that and it worked. And i did explain to him to use the bolts to carefully draw it in. Normally we dont have to do that because we line them up extremely close. Our shop does clutch work weekly. On the lift and with a tranny jack they slide right in!! Letting a tranny hang by the nose in the disc is not something GOOD!!

Having same exact problem. Stock bh and clutch replacement and tranny will not get flush with bellhosing. Comsidering doing it over or trying to draw it in with bolts as the spline is aligned, just not sure if or what it could do to pilot bearing. Did u get it done and if so how?

Just did mine, had to wiggle it back and forth and bunch but finally got seated.

I had the same problem, once I opened the the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder the tranny went in smooth.
