How to remove PITA reverse thrust washer?

How to remove PITA reverse thrust washer? Disassembling a T56 and the thrust washer above reverse will not come off. It stops above the snap ring groove. Any ideas? Thanks!

OK, it seems there is a tiny ridge where I guess the snap ring was turning or there was pressure on it. What should I do to take down this ridge and not damage the surface of the shaft?
