Need help with pilot bearing question

I bought a 98 z28 camaro has the t56 in it and the input shaft snapped on me the one day so i pulled transmission and it had no pilot bearing in it is there supposed to be a pilot bearing in it? And is that the reason why my input shaft snapped?

Yes, there is a pilot bearing in the back of crank shaft. Not sure why your imput shaft broke. More details about it braking ?

yep. Definately needs an LS1 pilot bearing installed. Not sure how they got the clutch and/or transmission aligned without it. Probably why it snapped?

Sometimes they get so mangled that there is virtually nothing left but like said, it needs to be in there.

thanks guys i figured thats why the input shaft snapped and there is nothing in there lol the car only had 87000 miles on it and i couldnt figure out how they got the transmission aligned either haha but oh well i got a spec 2 clutch and billet flywheel now and a gm performance slave cylinder thats goin in while trans is getting rebuilt
