Default T5 Tranny Question

Hello everybody, I have question and I hope someone can help me out and we can fix this.

I brought a 96 Camaro 3.8 T5. It needed a tranny. I put one in from a 94 Camaro. Now the Vehicle Speed Sensor differs from the 94 to 96. I couldn't use the 96 sensor in the 94. So I got a connector from a 94 so it would fit the 96. I cut the old connector off wired in the new. I don't have a speedo now. I tried switching the wires around still nothing. Now when I'm driving it seems that it wants to work, but doesn't. My question is will the 94 sensor and connector work with 96? I would really appreciate for someones input.

I don't know exactly what the problem is but it is definitely possible that the sensors are different between OBD I cars (1994) and OBD II cars (1996).
