Default Building a T-56 Tranny

Hey guys. I am new to Manual Transmissions and to Trans Am's and Camaros and all that good stuff. About 3 days ago I bought a LS1 1999 Black Trans Am, and with a T-56 stock transmission. I currently have plans to swap the LS1 with a stroked GM 427 block along with a 76mm turbo setup. I know that I will hit above 700RWHP with this set up.

My question is: What is necessary to build my T-56 tranny to hold up to that power?

I was recommende to here: LS1Tech by a cousin of mine. I hope to learn a lot from you guys. I am a newbie to these kinds of vehicles and transmission builds, I hope to learn alot here

I would definitely look at the basic things like billet shift keys, upgraded 3-4 fork and a basic freshen up. On top of that, I would do a main shaft upgrade, a 2nd gear upgrade if it still has the original gear in it and look at installing an oiling system on it just for safe measure. I just did one for a guy a few weeks ago with a 1st generation Camaro with future plans on making big power.

By mainshaft upgrade are you talking about going with a 31 spline? Where can you buy upgraded mainshafts, and is there any machining required to use an upgraded mainshaft?

There is in the tail housing for a bigger bushing. and seal. Check with TDP. They have a different setup than what some others offer. If you don't like it you can always get the kit that tick performance sells.

@thesource... Ohh ok, I personally dont know how to do this all on my own, I am from the Houston area and Ive been looking for good transmission shops and I havent found one. I'm sure there is a couple, how much will all these upgrades cost me? And do you take orders? I would love to know of someone that can do these upgrades properly

replacing the fork pads with the bronze pads is also helpful. I found most of my nylon pads were in pieces.
If you're reasonably mechanically inclined you can rebuild it yourself. There's a guide on here if you search.
