Default "launch control" for manuals?

after having my car at the track tonight I was thinking, does anyone make anything that can control clutch slip off the line for more consistent launches? I've seen bikes with and heard stories of old drag racers running "slipper clutches" but haven't seen any real universal options. does such an item exist?

Nothing really out there for clutch slip control besides a slipper clutch, which is big $$$ and not streetable. Best thing to "launch control" is a 2step so at least the rpm you launch at is consistent...

I read this a couple days ago.

It got me thinking though.

What if you put a line lock in line with the clutch slave as well as a 2 step, with some sort of a programmable timer/delay box.

You might be able to come up with a pretty stout and tuneable launch package.

Press the clutch in and hold a button. Release the clutch, floor it and release the button. Zoooooooooooooooom baby.

Anyway just thinking out loud.

Or a system that doesn't allow the clutch to dump. Would use some sort of controller to move the fluid through at X rate to where it will slip the same every time and be adjustable.

But I plan to use my left leg

you will destroy clutches like no ones business.... not many discs can take that kind of abuse except sintered iron.

LOL, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

For me personally the main attraction to a manual is the amount of control over the car. You can control exactly how the car launches with the clutch and practice to be faster and more efficient. Something like launch control or traction control just ruins it, no fun!

Haha, yes.

I have no desire to run an auto, as drag racing is just an added place to play with the car. Autocorss and track days are more my thing. I do have a 2 step in my Big Stuff 3 already, though I have not wired it up yet.

The launch control is not anything I plan to do, but the OPs idea is cool. My left leg launch has a best of a 1.47, so that's not too bad.
