Setup hold up?
Setup hold up? I have a 64 Nova that has been built to race. 383 SBC making 589hp / 449Tq, faceplated T56 trans, 11" Mcleod 500 series disc and 360801 plate (3200#) with Aluminum flywheel, 5.13 in a fab9 rear. I have street tires on it right now but, I have ET Street Radial in P315/60R15 on weld pro stars for the track. The car weighs 3300# with me in it.
I have only had it at the track once with the previous clutch. Mcleod 100 series disc and 360803 plate (2400#). Launched at 4000rpm and bogged the motor pretty bad. Went 11.79@119mph. I didn't know it at the time but, I broke the 2nd gear faceplate. So, the second launch we moved the 2step to 7000 rpm. Well, needless to say, the clutch didn't like that too much.
Now, for the question(s). Will the new disc and plate hold a 7000 launch? Will the trans take a 7000 launch? I know the T56 that I have is rated to 700/700 at the wheels. However, my builder isn't too fond of the T56. I have seen the list of guys taking the T56 in to the mid 8's. I just don't want to break something. Sh*t's expensive.
