Agreed. Love the orange machined plate on it It really is worth every penny.

Rob, there are two shafts that you can order with it and they specify which one will fit the stock ****. But I highly recommend the gripper shift ****, it feels great in the hand, very comfortable lots of grip and it looks awesome.

i just installed one on my 02 last week, first mod i did after i bought the car it had some stuff done to it(new to the forum and new 02 SOM 6 speed ws6 owner) the previous shifter was a hurst billet i took that thing out and installed the mgw shifter along wirth the bronze bushing and its a hell of a difference! just like everyone has said the 2-3 shift is amazing i use my palm when i go from 2-3 and it just locks in nice and smooth unless you have a hand spazm or just cant shift i dont see how you could ever miss a shift with the mgw.

Got a question, I've had my T/A for a month now and have never been able to really slam it into 3rd, got it a couple times at the track but with a little grinding. This weekend I was practacing no lift shifting (stupid fun going into second) and think I hurt my 5th missing 3rd, wich makes me believe that I just have bad syncronizers. I have done the drill mod (though my drill was dying, I think I did it correctly still cuz I got it all the way through but the pedal still lays on the floor after 3 or 4 all out shifts), and in my old GT with t56 swap I had and MGW orange handle and loved it so that will be the shifter I get when the day comes, but does anybody think that a good short throw will help at all or do I just need a Tick master and look into resyncing the trans?

It's going to be the master. My car has the stock Hurst short-throw with a short stick and if I run it hard a few times, (I.E. at the track with a couple back to back passes) the pedal will stick to the floor. One pass I got a grind hitting 3rd. And that's granny shifting the car. Powershifting is even worse . If you hit 5th hard enough, especially with a **** master I would not be surprised at all if it's hurt. Fifth and sixth were never meant for high loads like that.

guess I'll start putting money aside for a rebuild, doesn't look like something I want to tackle on my own. Least I can look into making it stout, thanks for the info

Yes, old thread... But I wanted to say thanks for all the opinions shared here. I have had the Hurst for like 14 years and recently got curious about the MGW.

About 14 years late to the game, but I recently installed the MGW on my 2002 Z28 (brought it from the original owner 8 months ago). It's pretty much night and day compared to the stock non-Hurst shifter. Love it. Also upgraded the isolator cup bushing in the process.
