Default Just installed a MGW shifter.

I have a 2002 Z28 I installed a Monster Clutch and a Tick Master about 3 months ago. I didn't install a short throw shifter because I read here that they are difficult to drive. I recently drove a friend's 2012 5.0 Mustang with a short throw shifter and loved it.

I bought the MGW and installed it today. I love it! It shifts much cleaner than the stock shifter. More positive feeling. There is a little bit of additional effort needed to shift, but not bad. I took the car by my parent's house and had my father drive it. After he got use to the short, stiff clutch pedal he liked the shifter too.

Very cool! Ironically, I did a MGW shifter today and agree...it's way better than stock. I had the factory Hurst on mine, and it felt like garbage compared to the MGW.

Hmmm...possibly. Why would you want that when you have the MGW? I'm just curious

I love my MGW after driving it for a while. I would be willing to sell my factory hurst for a fair price. Shoot me a pm.

The mgw was about the best mod I've done to my car. With how often you shift while driving it really makes driving the car that much more enjoyable. Very high quality piece of hardware, just makes me realize how terrible the stock Hurst was.

I'll report back after mine is installed. I have done quite well with a factory Hurst but of I can remove that slight chance of going back to first on my third gear shift then I'm all for it.

MGW will solve that for you, its a thoughtless affair now. Your just slam it forward as quick as you can.

Now accidentally shifting back into fourth instead of sixth when just putting around and not paying attention to nailing perfect shifts, that has happened to me before. The centering is seriously that strong than if your not paying attention looking for sixth, you'll grab fourth. Not that it's really a problem cause I (and doubtfully anyone) would ever be going fast enough to where it would cause anything more than a "oh crap" moment in your head.

It is seriously tight when it comes in. I wondered if I had made a mistake as I had no issue with the factory Hurst really, but, after some miles it loosened up and I enjoy the effortless 2-3 it provides.

I've driven a 99 Mustang GT with that shifter and loved it. Probably be the next thing I buy for my car.

I'm amazed by you guys who talk about how terrible the stock Hurst is. Throws might be kinda long, but it's not terribly sloppy (like the base shifter) or notchy (like most aftermarket shifters). I've never driven an MGW, though.

My experience with the Hurst is exactly as you describe MGW. 2-3 just slam it straight forward and it never misses; at first, I pushed off a little to the right, and would hit in between 3rd & 5th. I will catch 4th also going to 6th if I'm cruising along not paying attention.

I'm not bashing the Hurst. It shifted fine. But the MGW is like upgrading from the v-6 model to the v-8. Does the same thing, just faster and funner. Is funner a word?

Its all personal preference really. I havent driven a car with the MGW yet, but I have used the stock hurst/stock stick, stock hurst/WS6Store 6", Pro 5.0, Pro 5.0/Lous, and B&M Ripper, and out of all them, I liked the Hurst/6" and 5.0/Lous the most.

Getting rid of the stupid rubber bushing on the factory stick makes a WORLD of difference with the stock Hurst!

I absolutely love my MGW, by far the nicest shifter I have personally driven in an F body. A good friend of mine pretty much felt like I do, but about his Pro 5.0 and since he has felt the MGW, he pretty despises his shifter. At first I couldn't believe how tight it was between 1st/2nd and Reverse, but its great and I wouldn't install any other shifter from now on.

That's funny because the 2-3 and 3-4 shift took a ridiculous amount of concentration because it loved to suck it into the previous gear. That happened to me 3 or 4 times with the stock Hurst and thank god nothing ever broke. With the mgw you don't even have to think when changing gears, you just push up or pull back. It knows what gear you want to go into and it just takes you there.

Best $200 I've spent on my car, no question. I know alot of guys bitch about how expensive it is, but it really is a quality part.
