Default T56 Grinding in 4th only when releasing clutch??

Hi everyone, I just rebuilt my T56, but when selecting 4th gear, it goes into gear, but grinds when only when releasing the clutch and pushes the shifter out of 4th. But when I pull and hold the shifter in 4th gear, there's no grinds and it's able to drive smoothly.

Here is a picture of the 4th gear BEFORE the rebuild, please keep in mind i changed out the worn out syncro right under the slider. I know the 4th gear shows some wear, but do you think it's the culprit to my problem? Any suggestions would help a lot. Thanks for your time.

What was the input end play at build-up? excessive end play could cause this. Was the 3/4 forl rail hole ( key shaped hole) wallowed out?.......allowing excessive fork rock. If it has an iron fork this wallow/ wear in unlikely. Were the fork pads worn? If the pads were bronze, did you glue them on? Fallen off pads could cause this.

Thanks for the response man, you were right. the play of the fork was way too much and that's what fixed it! thanks!!
