Jumps out of 1st

Jumps out of 1st On occassion I have a problem with my tranny jumping out of first and it makes a terrible noise, I talked to one other person and he said his did the same thing. Does anyone know the problem or fix for this? The car is a 99 model Corvette with 45k miles one it and it has done it since I got it when it had 29k miles.

I have had many vehicles with manual transmissions including a C4 with no problems like this. At times it feels like it is in gear good and then boom it jumps out. I don't like having to be so carefull going into first gear and was just wondering if something is out of adjustment or needs repairing.
The 1-2 shift fork or Synchro assmebly could be wacked.or out of wacked.
I know My problem is , when I rebuilt the tranny , I just turned the synchro assembly around because I figured a synchronizer was more important on second than it was in first.
I did'nt have a new one laying on the shelf when I did my rebuild.
If I had, I would not be having any problems there.
Most ,99% of the time I can tell its not all the way in, only when I get lazy does it happen.

Mine usually catches me off guard, about the time I think I know how to get this thing in gear it reminds me that I don't. I have warranty left so would GM know what to look for? Do you think my shifter could be out of adjustment?
