Default 4.56 in a M6

Hey how are 4.56 in a daily driver? What are my RPM going to be at 80 in 6th? Im just curious b/c im planning on getting a 12 bolt soon. I want that low end power of 4.56 but i do alot of city driving-but i figured this woulf be a better investment than a T-REX. M6 needs a rearend and A4 needs.. uh...an A4 or any other replacement. Well any info from you guys with 4.56 gears would be helpful. Thanks

Good luck on traction...I got a 4.10 and I can't hook in first for nothing even with 315's out back....4.56 you are going to need slicks all the time at the track!!!...On the street you won't hook till 3rd...with slicks at the track it has got to be insane!!!..4.10=biggest street/strip gear.......4.56= all out race gear...Just my .02$$..good luck!

If you want to know what rpms for 80 mph, just take your current rpms*4.56/3.42 assuming you have 3.42's now.

I ran 4.56's a while back, i think i was turning 2300-2400 at 70mph. I really liked them on the street, those gears will also make a baddass clutch setup more streetable.

FYI at the track on street tires(275-40-17) i could cut 1.95-2.0 60ft.

i had 4.56 in my MN6 car. they were a BLAST on teh street. just have to run good drag radials for a chance to hook up. i got 24 mpg on long trips. 80 mph was 2400 rpms. not too bad in my opinion for all that great. i loved it with teh 28" et drags at the track. they are NOT an all out race gear.

I loved my 4.56 gear in the Hot Rod when she still had the M6.

Great on the street also. At 80 mph I was running at 2800 rpms.

I love mine (4.56's). I can go to 5th at 35-40 mph, and 6th earlier as well. And they're a real blast dumping in to 3rd on the freeway at 70 mph.

Whenever I drive a car with a lower (numerically) gear, it just feel so sluggish... I remember when I drove a buddy's 3.42 6-speed car and got on it a little on the freeway. Sheesh. Took for-ev-er to get some RPM's!

Gear = Fun. Trust me.

(BTW, I get no traction in to 4th on my street tires. It's time for drag radials or something...)

i heard gears are cheap to sawp out in 12 bolts and 9" so i coud always chage it out. heck i work in a garage so the labor is free and the parts are wholesale.

The 6pds should have come with 4.10's stock. My 4.30's are awesome for streetablility and a lot of fun. Gas mileage wasn't noticably affected.

I have been tossing around the idea of swapping from 4.10s to 4.30s or 4.56s but the idea of juicing the car makes the gear a big no no! Are you guys shifting to 5th at the track?

Stay away from shifting to 5th at the track. It will hurt your times alot.

I know because i did that before, and i was losing .3 by shiting to 5th.

I had 4.30s with my M6. I had to use a spacer. I broke every ring gear bolt at the track one night and decided to get away from spacers.I thought the 4.30s were cool on the street, but Im happy with my current 4,11s and have only lost 1-2 hundrenths in my 60'.
