Default 5.3 LS with a T5 ? Yes you can. Here it is !!!

I have been looking for information on LS with T5 swap but found lots of speculation and no one actually did the swap. Maybe I missed it. I came across this swap at the link below. It’s a 1990 RX-7 with 5.3 & T5.

Not sure if this was ever posted here but looks like great info. Below are some pics and there are more at the link below.

Nice job. I see you found the issue with the fill level by clocking the trans. Not sure how critical that is though. Anyone ever figure out why they did that on F bodies?
I was curious if you could set up the clutch for a mechanical linkage too. Any chance you have dimensions on the bearing retainer? ie neck diameter and length?
Also, what shifter are you going to use?

fyi, you can buy a reproduction of that '621' style bell housing from Keisler Engineering.

It has the correct bolt pattern for the LS block as well...so you can use all the bolts.

Standard small-block 101/2-inch (153-tooth) bellhousings will bolt up to a Gen III/IV engine but won't clear the 168-tooth flywheel.

Right....hence the need for the 621 bellhousing, which is designed for a big block that used 14" flywheels, like the LS engines do.

Is that a question or a statement? How about some punctuation?

LOL.

I believe the answer is yes. Question I have is if the Camaro T5 has the same input shaft length/splines as a T56. Since Ls1 clutch and flywheel is listed on there, I would assume this to be true. Also, is it the same output spline/size as a T56?

Great option for cheap, and for 500hp and under swaps, but does anyone make a "big power" capable T5?

A GM T5 has the same 26 spline input as a T56. The output is different and uses a 28 spline slip yoke.

G-Force and other companies make all kinds of upgrades for T5s, but they still tend to break with "big power" and big traction.
