in short, powershifted 2nd gear, didn't miss or nothing. ran car up the gears then let off. that was the last time car stayed in 2nd gear.

ever since, shifter moves to second gear but as soon as clutch engages it pops out. no matter what conditions, will not stay in 2nd gear at all. even tried hardest to hold shifter in 2nd, will not stay in.

disassembled trans. found, among other things, 1-2 shift fork intact but bad pad. engagement/clutch teeth were worn some. all 1-2 shift keys were there and in ok shape. blocker ring was not cracked.

would this be a bent shift fork or did the engagement/clutch teeth on 2nd gear get hurt enough that it now throws it out of 2nd? am i missing something?


also, is there a sticky to find a more detailed way to clean the teeth up in our transmissions? the rebuild manual is very vague

Its rare that you bend the 1-2 shift fork, but it will happen. I knew someone who did bend his 1-2 fork. To me it sounds like a fork.
