Slave plate?

Default Slave plate?

Hey i'm changing my slave and there is a plate on the back of the old one in between the tranny' what is it? Do i need it? It seems to fit much better without it.

If so keep it on. If moves the slave closer to the clutch. Helps disengage more.
My car did not have one I installed one that came with my new clutch. worked fine then I removed it when i changed my new clutch after the old one went bad. At high RPM when I would 2-step the car would roll off the line and burn my clutch. I put it back in and fixed it.
So I say keep it.

I figured thats what it was, i have an ls7 clutch though, arent you not supposed to use one?

Sounds like a shim to me. Caliper it and tell us what the thickness is. You "shouldn't" need one on a stock clutch like the LS7

Every car is different. I would measure it and let us know. There is also a great sticky at the top of the manula trans page that will give you a better explanation on what it does/how to measure.
